OBJECTIVES
The Risk Evaluation Dashboard (RED) research unit is developing a dashboard as an operating tool for management of avalanche and rockslide risk: issues of importance to economic and social life in mountain areas.
DEVELOPMENT
The project began by analysing the needs of the individual areas and the databases available.
The subsequent stages involved analyses of intervention case studies, harmonisation of the databases and formulation of algorithms.
GeneGIS GI then designed and developed the structure of the dashboard and the topographical database. In the final stages, GeneGIS Gi engineers performed field surveys, the data from which were then post-processed and uploaded to the project server to be available to and shared by the various operators.
CHARACTERISTICS
The project involves the development of a Dashboard to work rapidly across different types of data concerning avalanches and rockslides, and, through the application of special algorithms and an ad hoc topographical database, to provide the territorial authorities with products and sub-products for conducting rapid and pondered valuations on the type of mitigation action to take in emergencies and for routine management. The tool will enable authorities to manage risk, making it possible to create guided navigation paths for processed data and to establish operating standards for acquisition of field data.
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES
RED responds to the need for an integrated system for the collection and processing of territorial and environmental data.
Through the project, GeneGIS has acquired the expertise for creation of a specific data collection service in mountain regions.
