OBJECTIVES
PLANNER (Platform for the management of natural risks in urbanized environments) is a R&D project aimed at creating a decision support tool that allows map the vulnerability level with respect to environmental risks (seismic hazard, hydrogeological, climate change) equipped with a complete kit of interoperable tools, technologies and related working methods, aimed at supporting urban planners and public administrations in the assessment, management and timely mitigation, through resilience enhancement measures.
DEVELOPMENT
GeneGIS GI is part of a consortium with the partners ETT SpA and STRESS Scarl in a project co-financed by the European Union, the Italian State and the Campania Region, as part of the Campania Region POR (regional operational programme) ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) 2014-2020.
PLANNER consist of a Spatial Decision Support System (SDSS) based on a WebGIS technology that allows to map the level of vulnerability with respect to environmental risks (seismic hazard, hydrogeological, climate change) and to provide a complete kit of interoperable tools, technologies and related work methods, aimed at supporting urban planners and public administrations in the timely assessment, management and mitigation, through measures to improve resilience.
CHARACTERISTICS
GeneGIS will design and develop a WebGIS platform that will manage «traditional» data like local geology and morphology, the characteristics of the built heritage (construction types, construction periods, maintenance status) and the characteristics of the socio-economic context coupled with an extensive use of satellite data and remote sensing techniques.
Up-to-date remote sensing techniques coped with «traditional» data will enable a more accurate territory management, thus helping in issues like the fight against illegal building and environmental crime, disaster forecasting and control through the assessment of risks such as fires, floods, landslides and fault lines movements.
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES
PLANNER leverages innovative technologies and tools, such as the use of remote sensing data from satellite and their processing. The applications of satellite data are varied and all of great importance, such as land monitoring and management; environmental impact assessment, the fight against illegal building and environmental crime; disaster forecasting and control of s thanks to the assessment of risks such as fires, floods; the control of faults and anomalies, of tectonic movements, slope instability; the study of hydrology and water resources; updating of cartography and topography; monitoring of pollutants; monitoring of the atmosphere and of the seas.
