- Key Solution No
- Category PA, Environment and Territory, R&D
OBJECTIVES
The objective of the PERISCOPE project is to analyze the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic; the research will evaluate the best approaches, considering epidemic’s dynamics to map and analyze also the collateral impacts of the pandemic, to have a model to help governments and health authorities to improve Europe’s response in future new health crises.
In detail, the project is divided in different work-packages to understand the dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic, the consequences on the health and socio-economic development of the European Union’s nations and to compute Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence based decisional models, to better manage these crises.
DEVELOPMENT
GeneGIS GI takes part in the PERISCOPE project, financed within the EU’s Horizon 2020 program, as a partner in a consortium led by Università degli Studi di Pavia (UNIPV), with the role to design and develop a tool to allow spatial and temporal analysis of the COVID-19 outbreak in regard at the measures taken by the health authorities to mitigate its effects.
CHARACTERISTICS
The PERISCOPE project aims to cluster different sources of data into the “COVID-19 Atlas”, an integrated platform designed to get an accurate overall overview about the COVID-19 outbreak, to find relations between different measures taken by European health authorities to mitigate the pandemic effects and to evaluate their effectiveness.
The WebGIS developed by GeneGIS GI is the component of the “COVID-19 Atlas” committed to the management and visualization of all the geographical data: a software solution that allow to analyze the effectiveness of the measure taken but also to disseminate information on the pandemic effects.
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES
The WebGIS developed by GeneGIS GI is designed as an easy-to-use tool, freely accessible to became a base to researchers and people in charge of decisional processes and a source of information to share with everyone: it will offer an overview about the ongoing pandemic effects allowing to easily change the observer perspective with a level of detail varying from national level to single provinces and local effects.
